A statement of purpose is an essay about ones achievements, academic records, hobbies etc. In other words, it explains everything you have done and will continue to do in your academic pursuits. As such, it has to be detailed and straight to the point. Nowadays, admission and scholarship committees use statement of purpose as the benchmark for selecting candidates.
